Fairholme Preparatory School carries out extensive safeguarding training through flexible online courses.

Me Learning, a specialist provider of online training for organisations and individuals that work with children, young people and their families, has provided Safeguarding e-learning courses to Fairholme Preparatory School.

A key objective of the school is to ensure compliance with best practice in both the administrative management of the school and the pastoral care of the pupils. Recognising the need to ensure all staff members are fully up to date with child Safeguarding issues, the principals turned to Me Learning to provide Safeguarding training for themselves and all of their staff.

“After researching the options we chose Me Learning for the quality of the content and the flexibility of the online training methodology”

Mrs Perkins (joint owner and Principal)

From the school’s point of view, being able to undertake high quality online training outside school hours avoided the impact on teaching time compared with more traditional training methods. Each member of staff willingly undertook the training online from home, during the summer holiday. They found the content to be both relevant and revealing and appreciated the flexibility to work at their own pace to complete the courses.

“The course was challenging but enjoyable. It has certainly provided me with a much sharper insight into child Safeguarding issues”.

The Safeguarding courses are kept up to date with latest Government guidance and certificates are awarded automatically on completion. Certificates are used a proof of training and contribute to staff CPD.

Implementing a rigorous training programme such as this helps ensure all school staff, including the designated child protection coordinator, are equipped to effectively carry out their child protection responsibilities.

The principals are satisfied they are now complying with best practice in child Safeguarding and intend to continue using Me Learning to ensure staff receive regular refresher training.

“We are confident that by using Me Learning’s convenient training platform, we are now in a much stronger position to identify potential issues at a much earlier stage and therefore play a significant role in improving the lives of our pupils”.

Mrs Perkins (joint owner and Principal)

“Providing evidence of the effectiveness of Safeguarding is a huge priority within education right now and as our courses award users with a certificate at the end of the training, it was clear to the principals that each member of staff did complete the training.
Fairholme is a great example of a school that strongly believes in the need to improve the outcomes for children in all areas of life, not just academically”.
