Me Learning Ltd. has proudly signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming its commitment to honouring and supporting the Armed Forces Community on November 6th at an official event held in Warwickshire. This significant milestone demonstrates Me Learning’s dedication to ensuring that serving personnel, veterans, reservists, and military families are treated with the respect and fairness they deserve.
By signing the Covenant, Me Learning is making a firm commitment to these principles and pledging its support for the Armed Forces through a range of initiatives, including promoting the Covenant across its network and actively supporting national events such as Armed Forces Day and the Poppy Appeal.
The Armed Forces Covenant Duty, introduced in November 2022, places a legal requirement on public bodies to consider the unique needs of the Armed Forces Community in health, housing, and education. This Covenant Duty ensures that veterans, service members, and their families should face no disadvantage and that special provisions are made for those who have sacrificed the most.
Nick Richards, Executive Chairman at Me Learning, commented on the milestone for the company stating:
“We are honoured to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and contribute to the ongoing support of those who serve, have served, and their families. At Me Learning, we recognise the immense value that military personnel and veterans bring to both society and the workforce. By upholding the principles of the Covenant, we are not only showing our gratitude but also reinforcing our commitment to creating inclusive and fair opportunities for all members of the Armed Forces Community.”
In collaboration with Warwickshire County Council, Me Learning over the past 3 years has developed four e-learning modules on the Armed Forces Covenant with funding support from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
These courses are designed to raise awareness about the importance of supporting the Armed Forces Community, while also providing practical guidance on meeting the obligations set out in the Armed Forces Covenant and Covenant Duty.
The modules currently available include (click the links below to view the modules):
- The Armed Forces Covenant Induction – (15 minutes)
- Supporting the Armed Forces Community for customer facing staff – (45 minutes)
- The Covenant Duty Explained – Health (Senior Officers) – (30 minutes)
- The Covenant Duty Explained – Housing (Senior Officers) – (30 minutes)
The modules are already being used by local authorities, NHS trusts, and housing associations across the UK to implement the Covenant’s principles. The goal is to extend this reach, encouraging as many organisations as possible in both the public and private sectors to engage with the modules.
The Covenant Duty Explained for Health aids NHS organisations and local authorities in integrating the Armed Forces Covenant Duty into healthcare policies and practices. It’s specifically tailored for senior roles in leadership, policy, and commissioning. And it covers the essentials of the Covenant Duty, practical applications at organisational levels, and provides case studies to guide implementation.
The Covenant Duty Explained for Housing equips Local Authority housing teams to understand and apply the Covenant Duty, particularly in housing and homelessness services. With real-world scenarios, it highlights how housing professionals can make informed, empathetic decisions that address the unique challenges faced by the Armed Forces Community.
Phil Deakin, Armed Forces Covenant Officer for Warwickshire, who provided the content for the modules, stated:
“The development of these e-learning modules represents a significant step forward in helping organisations across the country to better understand their responsibilities under the Armed Forces Covenant. By working with Me Learning, we’ve been able to create engaging, evidence-based learning materials that ensure key elements are retained by learners. These courses are free, accessible, and an essential tool for any organisation looking to uphold the principles of the Covenant.”
By taking advantage of these free resources, organisations can play an active role in ensuring that veterans, service personnel, and their families receive the support and recognition they deserve.
The e-learning modules are available for anyone to do on the website of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust here.
