In a proactive step to align with new legislation and promote a culture of respect and compliance, the Diocese of Chichester has partnered with Me Learning to deliver Preventing Sexual Harassment training to all staff. This marks a significant commitment to ensuring safer environments across churches and affiliated organisations.
Over the past several months, churches across the UK have been renewing their focus on safeguarding, strengthening policies, encouraging openness, and cultivating environments where everyone feels heard and protected. By investing in this essential training, the Diocese of Chichester is setting an important example for others to follow.
“The motivation really was around making sure we’re compliant with the new legislation,” said Zoe Smith, HR and Operations Manager at the Diocese. “We wanted something that could be embedded into our processes for both current staff and new starters.”
Expanding Compliance Training with Confidence
The Diocese has been using Me Learning’s GDPR training as part of its ongoing staff development for some time. Building on that trusted foundation, they are now introducing the Preventing Sexual Harassment course in alignment with a newly launched anti-bullying and harassment policy. Together, these efforts reinforce a clear and consistent message of zero tolerance throughout the organisation.
Trusted, Accessible, and Church-Endorsed Training
The decision to partner with Me Learning was significantly influenced by the organisation’s endorsement from the Parish Buying scheme, a key procurement network for the Church of England.
“As a charity, cost matters. The fact that you’re able to offer training at a reasonable price, and with that kind of endorsement, made Me Learning a trusted supplier for us,” Zoe explained.
With a proven track record and church-specific expertise, Me Learning has become a valued partner in the Diocese’s commitment to safeguarding and compliance.
Simple training management with Form LMS
The Diocese is also leveraging Me Learning’s intuitive Learning Management System, Form, to deliver and manage training. The platform offers comprehensive compliance tracking, downloadable reports, and administrative features that simplify training oversight.
“The system is really useful for updating employee records and staying on top of training requirements,” Zoe added.
Setting a standard for safer workplaces
With this initiative, the Diocese of Chichester is doing more than meeting legal requirements, they’re actively shaping a safer, more respectful future for their community. By investing in practical, accessible training and clear policies, they’re setting a powerful example for others to follow. It’s a strong reminder that meaningful change starts with informed, intentional action.
