While this might sound simple, there’s a lot of ground to cover when it comes to food prep. In order to become a trusted source for your customers, our short and straightforward e-training courses will provide you with the right knowledge to start your (or continue) your career on the right path.
With a selection of five courses (Food & Hygiene Essentials, Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, Food Allergy Awareness, and Fluids and Nutrition – for Health and Social Care), you’ll be able to cover all the bases needed to succeed within the food industry, including food prep, safety, hygiene or allergies.
The first course listed, Food Hygiene Essentials, teaches students and viewers how to store, prepare and serve food in a safe manner. By the end of the 15-minute course, both you and your team will be well versed in the key components of food safety, as this course breaks down the key components to food hazards, food poisoning, food contamination, personal hygiene while handling food, food preparation, and food storage.
Our Food Safety and Hygiene Level 2 course is longer (at 2 hours and 30 minutes), and is recommended for all those preparing and serving food. Completing this course can help towards any visiting environmental health offices and have a positive effect on your food hygiene rating.
Another important aspect of working in the food industry includes being aware of food allergies and control substances hazardous to health. Lucky for you, you can learn the basics with an e-learning course dedicated to each subject.
Food Allergies is a 45 minute course which will walk you through the causes and effects of food allergies and what your business is legally required to (and should!) do in order to minimise the risk of said allergies. It’s important to understand that as an employee, you play a vital role in preventing reactions and following regulations. This course will also teach you how to help someone who is suffering, just in case a customer has an allergic reaction.
In just 30 short minutes, you’ll also be able to complete our COSHH course to ensure you don’t expose yourself or others to dangerous substances. After taking this course, you’ll be able to recognise hazardous substances and establish good workplace practices to avoid these and plan for any emergencies.
Last (but certainly not least) is our Fluids and Nutrition for Health and Social Care Course. This hour-long training course includes practice-based scenarios, video elements and engaging questions to ensure you’re learning along the way. The course will cover signs and symptoms of poor nutrition and hydration, and how to support individuals to gain access to fluids, food and nutrition in accordance with their individuals health care plan.
