The challenge

Graphnet Health worked alongside their customers in Surrey and Greater Manchester to develop some internal training videos for staff. The aim of these videos was to raise awareness of what their shared care records can offer and how all their partners can achieve the best outcomes from their technology.

Shared care records offer an integrated approach to care, giving the right treatment and continuity of care across a region’s entire health and care community. Shared care records collate and present data ensuring employees have access to the most up to date and accurate information about a person.

Graphnet’s aim was to support users in understanding what data is available within the shared care record, particularly during the early stages of their clients’ Covid‑19 responses and how this information can improve outcomes.

The solution

Me Learning worked with Graphnet and some of its clients to design and deliver animated awareness videos to highlight the benefits of the shared care record and guide employees to key information.

The videos looked at the shared care record from the perspective of different professionals. Data from across the health and care spectrum including GPs, clinicians and adult social care was used to reflect their organisation’s and individual needs. The videos included information on everything from patient medications and allergies to Covid-19 status and end of life plans.

Hadleigh Stollar, Customer Director at Graphnet Health said:

“Me Learning offered a flexible and proactive approach to the development of our customer training videos. From script writing, story boarding and the final video development, the workflow was seamless even throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is important to us that every one of our health and care users have access to our vital shared care record solutions to improve care and deliver better decision making. Working with Me Learning offered us and a selection of partner organisations, the ability to make all users aware of the benefits of using our solutions in the delivery of direct care.

“Awareness is key in making sure the users know how they can access our solutions and the benefits of having this rich data at their fingertips. Better information informs better decision making and working alongside our partners and with Me Learning, we were able to create short informative videos helping the users understand how best to do this.”

Ensuring maximum coverage was a key objective for this project. To that end, videos were delivered as a simple link so they could be uploaded to any client technology platform. They now run on client intranets and are available anywhere that has an internet connection.

The result

Early feedback indicates that use of the record is saving time, improving clinical decision-making and informing a more joined-up care pathway

  • 35% of healthcare professionals attending a recent workshop estimated
  • 30 minutes or more is saved a day as a result of record access.

Some of the additional testimonials below capture the reach of the impact of this project.

“Using Graphnet this morning, I have managed to find out that a patient we were going to see today has suspected COVID, so we have cancelled the face to face contact and will communicate by phone. This is good news as reduces risk to staff.“Consultant Psychiatrist & Associate Medical Director

The main benefit is it has saved me time on hold waiting to speak to someone at a surgery regarding medications…It could save 10-15 minutes per patient if I needed to phone to get some information. I would say this could occur at least once a clinic, and I do 4 clinics a week”. – Heart failure nurse specialist
